Economic advantage should not be, although it often is, the factor that determines whether or not individual children have access to that which will enable the development and unfolding of their full human potential and capacities. This is not only unfair, it is counter to the common good. The purpose of the Accessible Tuition Program in our school is to make Waldorf Education accessible to as many families as possible, balancing the financial health of the school with the recognition that economic obstacles to the free development of individual ability cause in some measure a loss to us all. We balance this ideal with a practical vision of our school’s finances.
The school currently operates within is a 'fixed' tuition system. This provides a stable financial base which, coupled with grants, gifts, and fundraising, comprises our operating budget. We have created the Accessible Tuition process to accommodate those families who are not able to pay the published tuition rate.
Application
If you choose to apply to the program based on financial need, the Accessible Tuition application process allows us to review relevant information in order to help meet your request. Once your child(ren) are accepted into the school and you decide that your financial situation is such that you need an adjustment to the posted tuition, you are required to complete an Accessible Tuition Application, and submit your application along with a copy of your most recent Income Tax Notice of Assessment. The application is reviewed by the school’s Accessible Tuition Committee, after which the Director of Admissions will notify you of its decision. If you are in agreement with the Committee’s recommendation, the Director of Admissions will then proceed with registration. |
