Early Childhood Pre-School Assistant

Early Childhood Pre-School Assistant

Part-time (5 days)

The Vancouver Waldorf School is looking for a fully Certified Early Childhood Educator for one of our morning (8:00-1:00) Pre-School Programs. We are seeking a teacher who has a solid knowledge and background in their subject area, informed by a connection to anthroposophy. A genuine willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues within the ECC and throughout the school is essential. Training and/or a strong interest in Early Childhood Waldorf pedagogy would be favourable.

The Kindergarten Assistant works closely with and is guided by the Lead Teacher to whom she/he is assigned. Kindergarten Assistants are responsible for supporting the classroom program. This includes but is not limited to helping with the children during fairy tales, puppet plays, walk day, watercolour painting, modeling, bread baking, handwork, free play and outdoor time. The Kindergarten Assistants will help carry out the daily, weekly and yearly rhythm of the classroom centering on the year’s seasons and festivals. In the Lead Teacher’s absence, Kindergarten Assistants will be prepared to be in charge of the class and lead the group activities such as circle time, snack time, and story time; deal successfully and creatively with transition times; and handle the unexpected in an appropriate manner. Kindergarten Assistants are responsible for the preparation of snack, kitchen clean-up, table setting and tidying, classroom laundry, and for helping with general care and preparation of the classroom and materials.
