Message from VWS Board of Trustees
The Board held its first meeting of the 2016/2017 school year on the night of Wednesday, the 14th. We were joined for the first part of our meeting by our new Business Manager, Susan Connon-Wilby, who won’t be starting until October 3, 2016 but was excited to come in and get her feet wet (more on Susan’s appointment later!). Other than some administrative and housekeeping matters, including the appointment of Rebeka Eriksson as Secretary of the Vancouver Waldorf School Society and discussion around the upcoming Annual General Meeting on October 26, the vast majority of the meeting was spent discussing proposed revisions to the salary structure for our teaching staff. The board is pleased to inform you and the faculty that we are close to implementing a salary structure that makes the VWS competitive with our peer schools, which the Board believes will further enhance our ability to attract and retain high quality educators for our students. We thank the community for helping us get into a position to invest in our teachers, which we believe is the most important investment we can make in our school’s future success.
Welcome back! The Board is excited for the upcoming school year, and expecting positive things. We hope you are too.
Eric Doherty, VWSS Board Chair
