Grade 8 High School Immersion Highlights

Thank you to the Grade 8 class for sharing your feedback from their immersion week in January!

During the week at the high school, I enjoyed being in the village a lot. Once it’s time for lunch, we can do whatever we want, and since it’s such a respected school in the area, people smile at us in the streets just for being there. I really liked science and math, mostly because of the teachers. The math teacher is really passionate about teaching and clearly wants to be there teaching us. The science teacher just makes it so much fun and gets us interested. Many of the older kids came up to me to talk with me, and it was very nice since I have a lot of anxiety talking with people I don’t know.

I enjoyed going to the high school. I really liked math, science, and guitar options on Fridays. I liked all the teachers and the breaks. And I liked being able to go to the village. But, I didn’t like not being able to walk home.

Last week our class went to the high school for a week. I really enjoyed going to the village and buying lunch with my friends. It was fun experiencing all of the high schoolers’ classes, even if they were a little bit more intense. The classrooms there are a little bit smaller and less colourful, but they’re still really nice. I kind of missed the open space and soccer field at the grade school, but overall I enjoyed our week in high school!

I like basketball and PE. Science was fun too.

I really enjoyed PE with grade 11. After being at the high school for the whole week, I felt that we knew the students better, making the options on Fridays more fun. I also liked all the breaks we had, and the conversations during class were more engaging.

I was really nervous at first, but it turned out to be really fun. I didn’t talk to many high schoolers. I liked the classes, especially jewellery making and PE, because we were playing volleyball. I didn’t like not having recess, but breaks in between every class are kind of cool.

I like that we get to choose the last lesson on Friday. Although we did not do a lot in English, I very much enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed going to the high school. Being able to go to the village and get lunch and hang out. I really enjoyed Dr. Young’s science class. I did miss soccer at recess, though.
~~~
I liked being close to home, but it also didn’t feel as much like it was school. It was nice to buy and choose what I ate for lunch, and I enjoyed that it felt freer. I also like typing a lot; I pretty much like any class with Leisha. I didn’t like the structure though, the mornings felt so stretched out it was exhausting. By the time it was the lunch break, I felt like going home because it finally felt like the end of the day, but it wasn’t!
The high school week was pretty fun. Some of the lessons were very good. The classes I like were PE and basketball options.
I really enjoyed my week at the high school, the freedom was really nice, and the lessons were good. I like typing and chemistry, and the village was awesome. The teachers were also really great, and everyone there was friendly. There’s not much I didn’t like.
I loved the freedom at break time, the ability to get a true hot lunch. The self-direction was great (getting yourself to class on time etc.). The washrooms were awful. Like terrible. Other than that, the campus is nice and clean. The schedules in every classroom were clear and easy to understand. The entire school flowed and worked effortlessly. I can’t wait to attend next year.
I enjoyed the freedom between classes and the older kids because they were fun and easy to talk to. I kind of missed the pretty classrooms and yards of the grade school, though.
I enjoyed going to Edgemont Village and the options class, but I didn’t really like the fact that there was no recess field. I really liked the teachers, especially our high school English teacher. She was very nice and did fun activities with our class. I kind of missed the grade school, though, especially Grade 4, our buddy class, since they are so nice and I’ve made very good friends with them.
