Hi, my name is Chloe Williams and I just returned from a four month exchange at Ecole Perceval in Paris France. I was very lucky to stay with a caring family.  I was attending a Waldorf school which was very similar to our school, although after 10th grade there they no longer had main lessons but instead had seven track classes a day, and each class was one hour long, meaning that school didn’t end till 5pm!

Each Friday, the class of exchange students went on trips into Paris to see the many museums including the Louvre, the Pompidou, and many others. It was wonderful to see all the original pieces of art that I studied in ninth grade in the History through Art main lesson block! Paris is an amazing city full of art, and culture. I found the Paris school’s exchange program, which kept exchange students mostly separated in their own class, made it very hard to learn the language.  However, I was also very lucky that I had the opportunity to do work-experience in the kindergarten, which is where I learned the majority of my French because there I was never around English speaking people, whereas at the school I had many other English speaking exchanges around me all the time. An exchange is a great way to experience a new culture, learn a new language and make wonderful friendships! I would recommend it for anyone going into the High School.
