Week At A Glance December 2 – 6

Dear Community,

We began the week with a reverent assembly for Advent. In the darkened Hall, a representative from each grade walked the Advent Spiral and placed a lit candle along the evergreen path while beautiful soft music played on the piano. The faculty shared a story about the stars and mineral kingdom before guiding us in song. My words don’t do justice for how magical this Advent assembly is, but I hope that you are able to imagine the mood and know how much of a gift this is for our students, from Grades 1 to 12, to participate in.

Advent Lunches

For many years, parents have taken it upon themselves to share the gift of a warm and loving homemade meal with their class teacher at lunchtime for the entire Advent season. If you are called, we invite you to take part in this simple, yet thoughtful way in which to share gratitude for the faculty who hold our children with such care and dedication. The Advent Lunches are an offering and are not a requirement, so please do not feel pressured if you are unable or do not wish to participate. However, if you do wish to participate, you are welcome to sign up here https://signup.com/group/1266986759593858083. For Early Childhood classes, please sign up using the form outside your child’s classroom.

Our school is participating in GivingTuesday this year, which is an amazing global movement celebrating giving at non-profits and charities. Last year, $15 million was raised for charities across Canada on GivingTuesday. Stay tuned via email and social media tomorrow for more.

Winter Fair Debrief

On Friday morning, Mary and I welcome you to come to share your thoughts on how you feel the Fair fared, in your class activities and overall while keeping in mind that our Winter Fair is entirely run by you, our wonderful volunteers. We will gather in the Music Room at 8:30 am, after drop off. Pour a cup of coffee or tea then join in to envision how we all can shine even more brightly in supporting and celebrating our community children.

The gift of the light we thankfully take,
But not shall it be alone for our sake,
The more we give light, the one to the other,
It shines and it spreads, growing still further;
Until every spark by friends set aflame,
Until every heart, the joy to proclaim;
In the depths of our souls,
A shining sun glows.

May our inner light shine brighter as the coming days grow darker.
