Week At A Glance January 27 – 31

Dear Community,

What a wonderfully full week or so that we’ve just come through! We hosted two well-attended and engaging open houses, one at each campus – thank you to all the parent, student, and alumni volunteers, as well as the faculty and staff, for making them a success! Grades 4 and 10 each presented the plays they’ve been working on – and each was so fantastic, I hope that as many as you as possible were able to come to watch. Then on top of it all, our Grade 8 students spent an immersion week at the High School – I’m sure that returning to their classroom at the Grade School this morning was a challenge! However, they now will have more opportunities to interact with and participate in more High School activities.

Announcements:

We are a week away from our big Grade 12 Service Trip fundraiser – Just Singin Round! The students are in the midst of planning their trip with hopes of travelling to Bonaire, one of the islands of the Lesser Antilles archipelagos in the Caribbean Sea to engage in animal conservation work with Echo Dos Pos Conservation Centre. All proceeds from ticket and raffle sales will go toward supporting this wonderful graduating class.

For the first part of the evening, enjoy a delicious catered meal from Emelle’s Catering while socializing with friends and family, then for the second part, sit back to listen to quality musical entertainment by Melanie Dekker, Geoff Gibbons, Lorna & Mark James Fortin, Beverley Elliott, Yvonne McSkimming and VWS student Ella Fortin – who shares a LEO award for Best Musical Score in a Short Drama with her parents for their work on the film Sliding Away.

Show your support for the graduating class of 2020 and purchase your $60 ticket at www.eventbrite.ca/e/just-singin-round-tickets-89336494861.

Warmly,
