Week At A Glance – May 13 – 17
Dear VWS Families,
If you had the opportunity to visit the campus at any point this May, you might have observed wee Kindergarten folk dancing around the May Pole, Ms. Johnstons’ Grade 3 class working on their building and gardening block, the 5th Grade practicing for the Olympiad with PE Teacher, Mr. Jeremias, or Mrs. Elliott and her 8th Grade students rehearsing play lines or postering all around the school grounds for their production of Twelfth Night. These spring days allow us to “leaf out” like the trees, shrubs, and plants of the forest, and I for one am grateful.

Spring Music Concert Notes – This Wednesday is our Spring Music Concert, which celebrates the accomplishments of students in our Music Program that formally begins in Grade 4. Grade School students will rehearse on Tuesday, May 14 during school hours; please be sure all players have their instruments and music at school on this day. On Wednesday, May 15, Grade School students will be dismissed at 1:15 pm; this includes students who are not performing, as well. Instruments must be brought home after school and then brought to the concert in the evening. Instrument cases need to be clearly labelled with the name and grade of your child. All performers are to be dressed modestly in Festival Attire, a dressier extension of the school dress code – dark pants or skirts, with dark shoes and socks, and white tops. Jeans, sneakers or sports shoes are not acceptable. For arrival times, please refer to the updated email you received on Thursday or Friday, last week, or find the details on our website here: www.vws.ca/spring-music-concert
Request for Volunteer – on Wednesday afternoon, I am looking for a parent to help transport 10 music stands to the Highlands United Church. Please reach out to me (stop by my office or reply to this email) if you are able to help.
Summer Camp Registrations – Summer Unplugged, our summer camp for children ages 6 – 12 is now taking registrations. The camp runs during the last week in June, 24 to 28. All the details can be found on our website here: www.vws.ca/programs/summer-camp. Also if you have friends who are curious about Waldorf and want to experience Waldorf Education without enrolling, this is a great opportunity to get a taste.
Spacial Dynamics – From Thursday, May 16 to Monday, May 20 we will be welcoming the Spacial Dynamics Group as our guests to the Grade School campus for training sessions.
Long Weekend – Please note that there are no classes scheduled for the Victoria Day Holiday on Monday, May 20.
Have a lovely week, everyone!
