Week At A Glance November 25 – 29

Dear Community,

Year after year, I am blown away by how our community comes together to host our Children’s Winter Fair. We talk about the Fair as being a gift from our parents to the children, and I have to share that this year, that sentiment struck a deeper more resonant chord for me. In Parent Council, we like to say that it’s those who show up who make things happen, well let me tell you, dear parents and guardians, you know how to make things happen! I was able to pull a report of the recorded volunteer hours over the weekend and was awed to see that collectively you gave 746 hours of your time, this doesn’t include the selfless hours of unrecorded preparation from our bakers, crafters and event coordinators. To you all, I bow deeply. I can’t thank you enough for how you brought the fair to life for the children in our community.

Mary and I will report on the Fair overall, as soon as we are able.

Bees & Trees Fairytale Performance

Bees & Trees Fairytale Performace is a collaboration between the co-workers and companions with special abilities from The Cascadia Society and students of the Vancouver Waldorf School. The fairytale is presented in eurythmy, an art of movement which makes the words of a story and the accompanying music visible. Handbells, lyres and other instruments add to the festive mood. The magical original score is composed by Stephen Chobaniuk, Ida Novak, and Alison Robers. The evening performance will feature performances by our High School Choir and the VWS Community Choir. Tickets are available at the Kay Meek box office https://kaymeek.com/events/fairy-tale-christmas-bees-trees-1

Advent Lunches

Over the years, children and parents have come to enjoy this warm way of showing their gratitude for their teachers’ dedication and hard work. For the month of December, you are welcome to sign up to provide a simple and homemade lunch for the teachers and staff. Sign-ups for the Grade School and High School can be found online here https://signup.com/go/HSopEaR. Sign-ups for the Early Childhood faculty will be posted at the ECC outside the classrooms. Please note that the Advent Lunches are a completely voluntary gesture and are not expected or a requirement.

Christmas Music Concert

Wednesday, December 11 is our annual Christmas Concert of performances from our Grades 4-12 Music Program. A letter will be coming home with students soon regarding rehearsals, dress code, arrival times and more.
