Week at a Glance October 1-5
Dear Families of the Vancouver Waldorf School,
Welcome to October!
These misty rains harold the change in season and help us to feel that the school year is now truly underway. It’s a good time to double check that you and your family have sufficient raingear to continue enjoying outdoor activities, and that children are able to stay warm and dry while playing outside at recess.
Today at the Grade School, we are recognizing Orange Shirt Day: every child matters. Seeing the sea of orange during our morning assembly was quite something to behold! Thank you for helping your children to participate, and thank you to the parents who helped spearhead bringing Orange Shirt Day to VWS.

Today and tomorrow afternoon will be wonderful opportunities to help support our Grade 12 students as they work toward raising the funds needed for their year-end service trip. Today students in 9th Grade will be out front of the Grade School with catalogues and order forms; if you will be at the Grade School during 3:00 pick up, please consider bringing cash or cheque to order some flower bulbs to help beautify your yard for spring! Tomorrow, come to meet the 12th Graders and bring along your toonies and loonies to enjoy a sweet treat and ask them about their plans!
Friday is Harvest Lunch at the Grade School – the entire school participates in creating this shared event. A table has been placed in the front entranceway to collect veggies and soup pots. Please don’t forget to label your pot, if you have one to share. High School students will be enjoying a Thanksgiving Potluck. What a wonderful day for a feast! Please note that there will NOT be a Coffee Morning this week as the kitchen will be in use.
Next Monday is a holiday, the school will be closed for the long weekend. On Wednesday, we will be welcoming Brian Dean Williams for a Parent Education evening on Mindfulness & Anxiety in Youth, I hope you will be able to attend! Please click to RSVP so we know how many chairs to set out. Then on Friday, we will welcome new families to the October-start Primrose Parent and Tot.
Wishing our High School girls the best of luck in their first games of the season, a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon! And wishing you a wonderful week ahead.
